Evaluation report
A total of 27 participants attended this 4,5 day course at the location of CERN, in Geneva, Switzerland. During the week, everyone received evaluations forms; for day 1 and 2 26 forms were returned;
for day 3 and 4 25 people responded, and for day 5 and the end evaluation 24 forms were received.
Thus participants gave their appreciation of the programme day by day. Also many suggestions and comments were given, which were all very valuable for Ticer.

Overall impression
This course was being organized for the second time, in close co-operation with the CERN Library in Geneva, Switzerland. 92% of the participants indicated they would recommend this course to colleagues in the field, 71% said the course was worth its money and 96% indicated that they will use what they learned in practice. Programme 91% of the participants could discover the structure in the programme. A critical note was that 39% of the participants thought the programme was overfull and 56% of the people thought there should be more opportunity for discussion. Positive remarks:
"Only being in the library field for 18 months, I followed and understood 99% of the presentations. There are many ideas and thoughts that I want to take back to my organisation. I have come away enthused and more focused."

Lectures In the evaluation, participants could rate a programme item 'extremely good', 'good', 'neutral', 'bad' or 'extremely bad'. With their ratings, we calculated a score from 0 to 5, with 5 being the maximum score. The average score was 4.1. The following lectures were rated as the best. For privacy reasons, the lecturers are indicated by numbers which correspond with the numbers in the syllabus given to all participants and lecturers.

Promotion and communication 40% of the participants indicated that they themselves or a colleague attended a Ticer course in a previous year. 40% were informed via the World Wide Web, via a newsgroup, via a discussion list or via a (electronic) library journal. Another 8% received a paper brochure on the International Ticer School via direct mail. Communication between Ticer and the participants was considered 'very good' to 'good' by 72% of the participants. The combination of e-mail and Ticer's web site to keep participants informed was considered 'very adequate' to 'adequate' by 86% of the participants. | |||||||||||||||||||

Technical facilities 71% used the CERN facilities to read their mail daily, but opportunities were considered low, because of the busy programme and some technical barrieres. | |||||||||||||||||||

Dinners, lunches, coffee breaks The quality of welcome and farewell dinners was considered 'good' by the majority (63%, resp. 67%) of the participants. The lunches and dinners were concidered 'very good' to 'good' by a slightly lower percentage. | |||||||||||||||||||

Accommodation Of the people who filled out the questionnaire, 16 stayed in the hostel on the CERN campus site. The price quality ratio was considered 'perfect' or 'good' by 81%, and even more people (83%) would stay there again a next time.
