* Module 1 only scored 56%, not because half of the participants indicated that they would not recommend the course, but because 40% of them ticked the 'neutral' box.
** As you can see, the things learnt during module 2, which consisted mainly of hands-on in a computer room, were considered the most useful / applicable. Several participants left the course with concrete ideas.
"The course was inspiring, the learning environment impressive and meeting colleagues from across the world a wonderful experience. The course was extremely well organised and the four days filled with thought provoking ideas". (Jeanette Dazkiw, Campus Librarian, La Trobe University, Australia)

What a performance! Entertaining, challenging, provocative, very well linked to library needs, well-presented. |

This speaker never fails to impress me. Real pioneer, very high-level presentation, good in explaining abstract ideas, made this potentially impenetrable topic exiting and interesting. |

I valued the opportunity to share information with fellow participants. Good mix of activities, very interactive, excellent presentation style. |
"Great reality check on my knowledge on e-science, grids and open access. In a world developing as fast as it is for these subjects, it's important to stay up-to-date and Ticer offers a great opportunity to do that"! (Mirella van der Velde, Project Manager, Koninklijke Bibliotheek, National Library of the Netherlands, The Netherlands, about module 3)

Lecturers' comments
We were also blessed by comments from our speakers and former speakers:
- "I've just arrived back home and I want to tell you all how much I enjoyed the chance to meet you (not all, but many!), to share a week with you and to be part of the program. Jola and Vivi, you did a great job. I've run meetings similar to this over the years and I know how much work goes into putting all this together and having it come together as well as this one did. Hats off to you. To all my fellow presenters and class mates, your conversations stimulated my thinking, broadened my understanding and helped me to see many new perspectives, ideas and dimensions of our profession. For that, I thank each of you. (Carl Grant, MLS President & COO, VTLS, Inc., USA)
- "I, too, want to add my thanks to the Ticer organizers, my fellow speakers and to the students, whose seriousness and diverse backgrounds added great depth to the experience. We worked hard, we were rewarded with an excellent program, and we were well fed--by the excellent food and the stimulating conversation. Thank you"! (Catherine H. Candee, Director, Publishing and Strategic Initiatives, University of California, California Digital Library, USA)
- "I unreservedly recommend the Ticer Summer School to someone who wants an intense mental and social workout a la library issues". (John Kirriemuir, Researcher and Consultant, Silversprite, UK). Later, John added: "A big thank you to the organisers of probably the best organised library/information science event I've ever been to (and I've eaten my way through several hundred over the last 14 years). As a delegate, game-player, speaker (who kept changing his presentation through the week) and bar hound, I found the whole event exhilarating and also mentally challenging. Have returned with a lot to think about; my brain is younger, but more full..."
- "The Ticer Summer School has become a longstanding feature of the library landscape and has an international flavor. I have been surprised over the years not to see it replicated elsewhere". (Lorcan Dempsey, Vice President and Chief Strategist, OCLC, USA)
"It was totally inspiring and challenging. It was also good to see each speaker update their presentations as they saw how their subject was connected to previous presentations. The organisation was just perfect". (Ilkay Holt, Reference and Outreach Librarian, Koç University, Information Services Department, Turkey)
