Laura Anselmi:
After years of teaching in high school, I entered 'the library world' in 1983, when I was asked to start a civil engineering Department library at the University of Florence. Since then, I have always worked in the areas of engineering and architecture-town planning
and in an academic environment. In 1990 I completed a MSc in Information Science (U.K) with a thesis on "Subject access to visual materials". In the same year I moved to the technical university in Milan (Politecnico di Milano), where I was appointed as the librarian for their Central Architecture Library. In 1994 I left the library to set up a central service to provide computing and networking facilities to all Politecnico libraries, and run online services to staff and users. Increasing need for management skills in this position brought me to further studies in the area, with a particular interest in how individuals and groups interact and tackle change within an organization. I have just started working as an independent consultant. I am currently involved in digital library projects.

Steven Gheyselinck:
Currently responsible for Subject Headings as well as Periodicals at the Main Library of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, I couldn't help being confronted with digital scientific publishing and its impact on the Library. Intrigued by the opportunities it offers I took part in the 1997 Ticer Summerschool on the Digital Library. This year's attendance is in anticipation
of important changes due to a TICER audit of our Institute's Information Services. Born in Amsterdam (1947), I studied Architecture
at the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule in Zürich and practised for some years in Brasil and Portugal, later on followed by an apprenticeship in cabinet-making. I find no little pleasure in playing with Lego and Meccano and in defending our son's constructions against our, even more playful, viszla dog.
